Inheritance Tax – An Introduction and refresher

This 1 hour training session is designed to provide an understanding of the key principles of inheritance tax and the occasions when inheritance tax is payable, including how it applies to lifetime gifts.

• An understanding of the 3 main occasions when IHT is payable.
• How IHT is calculated on death.
• An understanding of how IHT applies to lifetime gifting.
• An overview of exemptions and reliefs that apply on death and during lifetime.
• An understanding of the nil rate band.
• An overview of the Residence Nil Rate and when that applies.
• A practical example to demonstrate the above principles.
• An understanding of when IHT must be paid, funding options and the option to pay by instalments.
