This 5 part masterclass covers everything you need to know about drafting Lasting Powers of Attorney for clients.

Brought to you by Scott Walker and Today’s Training, you will learn how to draft LPAs that demonstrate real value to your clients. We will seek to overcome some of the common challenges that we face when advising clients about LPAs, so that our clients will see us as their trusted advisor, recommend us and instruct us time and time again.

By the end of this series you will be able to:

• Identify what instructions to take from clients to effectively draft their LPAs.
• Apply the test of Mental Capacity to make LPAs.
• Write Instructions and Preferences in an LPA, including some common clauses and challenges.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Business LPAs and when they are needed.
• Build an understanding of Health and Welfare decisions.
• Interpret the differences between advance decisions and a health and welfare LPA.
• Understand how advance decisions and health and welfare LPAs interact and which is best to use.
• Identify what information and advice to give to attorneys.
• Navigate the changes to LPAs under the Powers of Attorney Act 2023.
